Backstage Blends is a hard rock inspired e-juice company founded by Dan Chandler, lead singer of Evans Blue and Fight or Flight. I had the opportunity to sample four of Backstage Blend’s flavors: Metal Milk, Serum, Vice, and Platinum.
Metal Milk
Metal Milk is billed as being “Dan’s favorite”. It’s a sweet, delicious custard flavor that actually manages to be unique. The powerful strawberry flavor on top of a base of custard provides the dominant note on the inhale. The exhale provides some extra complexity with the addition of a sweet whipped cream and a subtle amount of crisp graham cracker flavoring to round things out.
Serum
Serum is another creamy flavor. This one adds a fruity orange flavor that is very noticeable on the inhale. The official flavor description claims that this flavor has hints of butter rum, which to my tastebuds seemed like more of a caramelish flavor that really came out on the exhale. Overall this is a great fruit/cream flavor with just enough complexity to keep things interesting.
Vice
This one is an incredibly sweet, candy-like fruit cocktail flavor. The strawberry, peach, and blueberry flavors are all very well-balanced and noticeable on both the inhale and the exhale. If you’re a fan of jolly rancher type candy flavored e-juice, this one is perfect. The flavors complement each other perfectly and add a perfect amount of variety to this amazing candy flavored e-liquid.
Platinum
Platinum is a very fruity, refreshing raspberry lemonade flavor. This tropical flavor is really heavy on the sweet lemon/raspberry combo, but further vaping reveals hints of tropical fruits. I noticed a bit of pineapple and citrus flavors to round out the flavor.
Backstage Blends has proven itself to be not just another mediocre celebrity endorsed e-juice, but instead a serious contender in the e-juice market with impressively complex flavors. The juices are available in 70/30 VG/PG blend, giving a good between cloud production and flavor. Additionally, the customer service from the Backstage Blends team is top-notch. One of the bottles from my order was broken and they sent out a new one with no questions asked. It doesn’t get any better than that.
