These days, everyone pays more attention to what goes into their body. We know more than ever about the connection between good health and nutrition, and there are better organic options out there.
Organic e-juice was bound to happen. Now that the e-cigarette industry has grown to a multi-billion dollar behemoth, it’s inevitable that today’s most common trends would gain a foothold in this extremely popular hobby. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you’ve certainly noticed that everything has an organic version. E-liquid is no exception.
The best organic e-juice is Kind Juice.
We’ve also listed their two best competitors and give you all the details about all three. As long as you choose from this list, you can’t go wrong. Read on for our overview of the best organic e-juice in the world.
What is the Best Organic Vape Juice & e-liquid Brands?
Now that the entire industry is reeling after EVALI, it’s safe to say the world is being pretty careful about what we vape. So what’s the best organic vape juice?

About the company
Kind Juice is a Florida-based vape juice company that specializes in premium organic vape juices. Their claim to fame is a big range of flavors that manage to impress–achieved through the use of all-natural ingredients.
The Kind Juice business ethos is pretty consistent. For example, even the package is biodegradable, recycled paper instead of plastic. And the commitment to fair trade and sustainable agriculture makes the average consumer feel better about buying.
Kind Juice products are known for ethically sourced, high-quality ingredients and a natural process for flavor extraction in place of chemical extraction. If you’re vaping you weren’t born yesterday; you know what you’re consuming isn’t always 100 percent pure.
But even so, hopefully, you demand the highest quality in terms of both ingredients and flavors—and that’s what Kind Juice is all about. Each of the three organic e-juices on this list uses a 100 percent pure vegetable glycerin (VG) base because that’s a must for an organic vape juice. Kind Juice uses its own process for VG to achieve USP grade ingredients—that’s pharmaceutical level purity.
Kind Juice extracts VG from organically grown plants that have not been treated with pesticides. Instead of chemicals, the process employs pressure and heat to extract the VG, which is then distilled and refined to remove impurities.
Kind Juice sources tobacco that is organically grown in the USA without growth control agents, herbicides, or pesticides. Kind extracts nicotine using a cold refinement method and just temperature, pressure, and water, without industrial solvents such as kerosene. This leaves a stable, diacetyl-free, high purity, clear nicotine. The cold refinement process lends the vape juice a smoother flavor.
There are so many reasons to choose organic nicotine. Cheap nicotine sourced overseas from tobacco grown in Asia and Europe can contain heavy metals and other toxic compounds from dangerous pesticides and the soil it grew in.
Similarly, all Kind Juice e-nectars are flavored using only 100 percent organic, no GMOs, natural ingredients, including wildcrafted botanical extracts and organic flavor concentrates. There are no artificial ingredients and no propylene glycol despite the strong, realistic flavors.
Speaking of flavors, Kind Juice has a wide range of flavors that are sure to appeal to just about any taste. We tried two different flavors, and we loved them both: Little Mean Vanilla Bean and Once In a Blue Moon. Both were clean, powerfully flavorful, and spot-on in terms of the actual taste.
Little Mean Vanilla Bean
This organic vape juice starts with actual Bourbon Vanilla beans from Réunion, Madagascar, and you can tell when you inhale. The flavor is delicate, simple, yet totally well-developed.
This starts with a three-stage steeping process and more than six days—150 hours—of processing that really brings out the vanilla flavor. The alcohol that starts out in the juice evaporates away using this method as the aromas and tastes mature. In the end, you get an incredibly smooth hit from Little Mean Vanilla Bean and lots of sweet flavor, without being overpowering. If you like vanilla bean ice cream or crème Brulee you are going to love this vape juice.
Once In a Blue Moon
Kind Juice Once In a Blue Moon is a huge step up from most allegedly fruity vape juice. There is absolutely no artificial candy-like aftertaste in this blueberry flavor, just the natural, refreshing taste of juicy forest blueberries. Thank the natural botanical extracts in the vape juice for that taste—and you will.
Nice, thick vapor, and not overly sweet, either. Spot on as a flavor, and very smooth—and Once In A Blue Moon is a flavor that even people who don’t typically do fruit flavors will like.
The bottom line
Kind organic vape juice is perfect if you love really deep, accurate flavors, or if you enjoy vaping after a meal with coffee. These sweet, thick clouds are amazing—you won’t even remember this is sugar-free and organic.
This vape juice tastes great and we felt confident knowing exactly what was in these bottles. And once we tried the product, we appreciated the efforts the company puts into sticking to ethical business practices and sustainable manufacturing and sourcing practices. Kind Juice costs more than some of the alternatives on the market—like most organic products.
But the best ingredients demand premium prices, and the quality comes right back to you in the bottle. Kind Juice runs $13.99 for a 15mL bottle and $24.99 for a 30mL bottle—but we felt it was worth it.
If you’re ready to go all-in on Kind Juice — try their Ultimate Nectar Sample Box. You’ll get 18 five-milliliter bottles, one for every classic flavor (and for a limited time, on sale!).
Essence Vapor – Great Value
Essence Vapor was founded by a former smoker who was looking for better flavors with fewer additives and better ingredients. He solved his own problem by founding the family business, Essence Vapor.
- made in the USA
- all Essence e-liquids are made with flavor extracts and USP vegetable glycerin that are certified organic, and nicotine sourced in the US from organically-grown tobacco plants
- all juice is mixed, bottled, and tested in an AEMSA certified facility, meaning Essence maintains traceability for all bottles produced, detailed records for each batch of hand-crafted e-liquid, and adheres to a strict code of BMPs
- Essence is registered with the FDA and 100 percent compliant with State of California and federal regulations
About the company
Essence Vapor has been in business since 2014, and it is really one of the starters of the organic vape movement. Founder Ryan Douglass grew up farming in Hawaii and eventually studied environmental science in college. An avid outdoorsman with a real passion for the outdoors, including botany, Douglass’s lifelong interests provides the foundation for the values of the company.
Although Essence Vapor has only more recently achieved USDA Organic Certification, that process documents the same ingredients and manufacturing practices the company has had in place from the beginning. The process is time-consuming and meticulous and documents a similar set of ingredients and processes to the one we describe above for Kind.
This is also a sugar-free option, and it’s worth noting that it’s not just good for your body: it’s good for your coils. This is because added sweeteners, even natural sugars, can really gunk up the coils and end up costing you more money as a result.
One of the best things about organic vape juice like Essence is that the flavor is so realistic. These all-natural, organic ingredients taste just like what they are. They’re light, clean, and right on target with flavor when done well—and these are.
We tried Arctic Cloud, which is a minty menthol sort of alternative, and Yumberry, which is a unique fruity blend. Both were seriously A+.
If you do like the icy mouthfeel of menthol, mint, or koolada, you are really going to love Arctic Cloud by Essence e-liquids. This is ice-cold flavor and it really stays with you. You’ll be pretty amazed that this is organic—at least, we were.
We love this summery fruit blend that gets just about anyone who loves sweet, juicy, fruit flavors. Yumberry really is delicious, a blend of fresh raspberry, peach, and watermelon flavors. Each taste really comes through, especially since it’s organic and not too sweet.
There’s no mystery fruit punch or, “Is that a strawberry?” here. It really does give you that sense of enjoying fresh fruit.
The bottom line
Essence organic vape juice is our pick for some super cool, unique flavors. The taste is just as deliciously accurate and fresh as any organic out there, yet you can get a really interesting blend like Yumberry. In other words, you can still get something different, a way to mix it up, while keeping it natural, which we loved.
These thick, sugar-free clouds deliver a throat hit and are just as delicious as anything that isn’t organic, but with Essence, you know just what you’re getting. Essence Vapor also costs less like many other high-quality juices, at $22.00 for a 60mL bottle. This is your best value option in organic vape juice.

About the company
Kai’s has been in business since 2010—practically the Dark Ages in terms of vaping companies. They were founded as people here in the United States looked for alternatives to e-liquids made in China. Back then there weren’t many, and so Kai’s was born.
Since that time, Kai’s has run itself based on the idea that there is one big family of vapers out there, and that we have to look out for each other. Part of their MO has been being very careful about cultivating a clearly adult market, for example. Another has been a focus on well-developed flavors for adult tastes created with organic ingredients.
Kai’s organic vape juice is all third-party certified as vegan, pesticide-free, organic, and GMO-free. Kai’s also avoids using artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners. All of the nicotine flavors contain USP-certified kosher grade nicotine that is stored under strict refrigerated conditions to keep it fresh before mixing.
Kai’s Virgin Vapor belongs to AEMSA, the American E-Liquid Manufacturing Standards Association. This means they adhere to their standards for lab testing, quality, safety, and good product stewardship. Membership lets you know that they follow the best practices in the vertical, and lets you see what those are and how they protect the quality of what you’re buying.
Kai’s Virgin Vapor organic vape juice flavors are really amazing. Obviously, this is what really sets them apart for us. Although there is a wide range even now, ultimately there will probably be ten—still pretty awesome.
We tried three Kai’s Virgin Vapor flavors (we couldn’t help ourselves): Razzamatazz, Death by Chocolate, and The Jet Set.
Razzamatazz is raspberry, just like it sounds. It has a strong but deliciously fruity flavor, and it even smelled wonderful. The organic raspberry plant extract hits hard, and you won’t believe how tart and fruity this is.
Death By Chocolate
Kai’s Virgin Vapor Death by Chocolate—also self-explanatory. Death by Chocolate is the best version of chocolate e-juice we’ve tried, principally because it doesn’t taste phony or off. It smells fudgy and faintly of coffee, and it delivers those thick, sweet clouds you want from something dessert-y.
The Jet Set
The Jet Set was a really nice, deep coffee flavor, and actually ended up being the favorite. The solid buzzy coffee taste hits you—and it’s not a latte, it’s a really dark, strong coffee. It smells and tastes delicious and gives a bit of a pick me up as well. Very rich and tasty, and the unexpected favorite!
The bottom line
Kai’s Virgin Vapors offers a middle of the road price for a delicious organic option. It comes in four sizes, and the biggest is the best bargain (only if you love that flavor, of course—but you will). At $13.50 for 15mL, $22.50 for 30 mL, $39.99 for 60 mL, and $69.99 for 120 mL, this has the potential to be a pretty decent buy. Add in variable nicotine strengths from zero to 18 mg and you really get what you pay for here.
What Are the Standards for Organic E-juice?
The “organic” label for e-juice is required to meet the same standards as other organic substances, such as food. In the United States, organic products must meet certain USDA standards including:
- Products must be grown using certain natural methods.
- They have to be produced using allowed substances.
- They must follow all USDA organic regulations (overseen by a USDA-certified National Organic Program agent).
Here is a closer look at what that all means.
The USDA runs the National Organic Program (NOP). Every seller who wants to bring a product to market using that term must follow the guidelines from NOP, including anyone who sells organic vape juice.
And although USDA certification is really the only way to be sure that something is truly organic, the actual benefits of using organic products remain under debate. Still, by looking at the guidelines, there are certain things we do know: plants certified as organic cannot be grown using chemical herbicides, fertilizers that are not 100 percent natural, insecticides, or pesticides.
Organic vape juices use organic vegetable glycerin (VG) only. This means that they source only organically grown plants for making VG, and that they may use only USDA-approved extraction methods.
Organic vape juices cannot contain additives, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, or synthetic flavorings. To maintain organic certification, each ingredient in the vape juice must be grown and extracted organically.
This includes nicotine, and it’s a big reason why many companies cannot achieve organic certification outside their 0 nic juices. Tobacco is very difficult to grow organically, and it is time-consuming and costly to extract without petroleum-based products.
Because PG is a by-product of petroleum, it is itself synthetic. Vape juices that contain PG cannot be organic—nor can vape juices that contain tobacco extracted in the wrong way.
For all of these reasons, truly organic vape juice is tough to find. You can see why we stuck with the three best on the market—the most delicious that you can really trust to be 100 percent organic.
Why is Diacetyl Free Important?
Diacetyl (DA) is a compound that occurs naturally as beer ferments. However, it has also been synthesized as used as a flavoring agent for “buttered” popcorn and has been linked to popcorn lung in factory workers. It is safe to eat DA, but may be risky to inhale it in large amounts—and many vapers just want to avoid it completely.
All e-juices are not diacetyl-free because although most companies don’t use DA directly as an ingredient, it is a component of some artificial flavorings. Even now, it’s not always clear how different chemical constituents in vape juices behave, especially at high temperatures.
Of course, there’s no question that traditional cigarette smoke is more harmful than even vapor that isn’t organic. But if you’re concerned about what you’re vaping and you want to limit what you’re inhaling, organic vape juices are your safest bet.
What is Organic Vape Juice?
Most organic vape juice contains up to 80 percent vegetable glycerin (VG). Glycerin is a natural compound processed from most types of fat, in this case, fat from vegetable oils. VG is safe for inhalation because it is actually alcohol, although it is made from oil.
VG is clear, non-toxic, and has a sweet taste and smell. It is sometimes used as a food sweetener, and despite years of research, no health problems related to VG have been documented.
The next component of organic vape juice is flavorings in the form of food-grade additives. Only flavorings that are safe for inhalation can be used in vape juice, and sometimes even food-grade additives aren’t, so it’s essential to go only with organic e-juice for vaping.
Most vape juice also contains some sort of nicotine. Freebase nicotine is nicotine in its purest form, and the more traditional form of nicotine found in e juice. Freebase nicotine vape juices usually come at 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, and 12 mg.
Nicotine salts like the ones found in JUUL mimic the nicotine found in the tobacco leaf more closely and offer a smoother, lower temperature vaping experience. They also enable vapers to enjoy higher concentrations of nicotine using cheaper devices—so see that as a plus or a minus, depending on your position. Nicotine salts are also more flavorful and affordable, in most cases.
PG vs VG
We have already explored the differences between PG and VG above, but let’s get into this more here. The biggest myth you will hear in the context of organic vape juice is this: the flavor is no good because PG is a better flavor carrier than VG.
We are here to tell you, this is a myth. VG can work just as well for flavors—but only if you do them right. That’s why we chose these three brands. Here’s what we mean.
VG is typically made from coconut, soybean, palm, and flaxseed oils. PG is petroleum based. But how would we test how well they hold and deliver flavor?
Some research does exist. In fact, a 2018 study found that users vaping the same flavorings in e-liquids could not taste differences between higher PG or VG content. In other words, in a blind taste test, Pepsi challenge style, people really can’t tell whether an e-liquid has more or less PG or VG in it, so long as the flavoring is identical.
So here’s an idea: we might be thinking PG has more flavor because it’s cheaper and easier for companies to use. Just an idea. Because to achieve great flavor with VG, it’s true: it takes some effort.
The actual differences between PG and VG have much more to do with chemical and physical properties, and they result in differences in the way the vaping experience feels. For example, if your hits are harsher or smoother, or your clouds are thicker or thinner—these kinds of things can be affected by the PG/VG issue.
On the other hand, research has shown that PG vape juices are actually more likely to be harsh. They are also more likely to induce an allergy—although uncommon.
Is Organic Vape Juice Worth It?
Organic produce has been taking off lately because of the potential health benefits that come from ingesting higher quality food. The verdict is still up for debate when it comes to organic e-liquid, however. There haven’t been enough tests done on organic e-juice to determine if it’s more beneficial than using the cheap stuff.
The main downside with organic e-juice (or organic anything, for that matter) is the cost. Obtaining the necessary certifications, lab inspections, and all the other necessary steps don’t come cheap. That cost gets passed on to the consumer.
The debate really comes down to personal preference (just like everything else in the world of vaping). If you value organic products and don’t want to take the risk that comes with vaping non-organic products, then that extra cost may be worth it for you. If you’re the type of person who thinks that organic products are pointless or if you think that they aren’t worth the extra cash, then you might want to stick with non-organic e-liquid.
Why You Should Trust Us
The Vapor Vanity review team has decades of combined experience in the vaping industry. We’ve spent over 150 hours testing out organic e-liquids so you don’t have to.
