Young Living is one of the world’s most popular essential oil brands. If you’re not familiar with them, they are a company that has built a cult following through their multi-level marketing distribution network selling various essential oils and other wellness products. Regardless of how you feel about the ethical implications of multi-level marketing (also known as pyramid schemes), it’s undeniable that the company is a force to be reckoned with and that they create some wildly popular products.
Apparently, many people have been clamoring for the company to release a CBD-infused essential oil, because they just made a huge announcement on Facebook indicating that they’ll be releasing their first CBD product this month. From their Facebook page:
We’re excited for this new year, which is the beginning of our 5×5 Pledge. We have a number of exciting products, programs, and innovations in the pipeline that we hope will continue “surprising and delighting” our membership base.
When we survey our members, one of the top-requested products is CBD oil. We’ve heard you and have been working on a CBD solution over the last year, and we now have one in place.
As many of you are aware, the 2018 Farm Bill was signed into law before the end of last year. This was the biggest milestone toward declassifying hemp-derived CBD as what’s known as a Schedule 1-classified drug in the Controlled Substances Act. Because it is THC-free, there is nothing psychoactive about CBD, and it has important benefits of which many of you are aware.
The Farm Bill is just the first step to fully legalizing CBD in the United States, albeit a big one. Now state governments and government agencies like the FDA must build out specific regulations related to the new law.
Because it’s still somewhat of a gray area, our banking partners and consulting law firm have advised us to not carry CBD products as Young Living products at this time. We’re too big of a company to take the risk, which could potentially jeopardize other aspects of our business. So what’s our CBD solution?
We have worked hard to identify a third-party retail company that aligns with our values, including our Seed to Seal® quality commitment. We will supply them with Young Living essential oils to create Young Living Seed to Seal-quality infused CBD oil.
The company we selected and have partnered with has an innovative and experienced management team; an experienced and credentialed scientific advisory board that includes our own talented chemist, Dr. Richard Carlson; a vertically integrated farming process based on organic hemp plant cultivation practices in Colorado; quality extraction and testing methods; and a broad range of product offerings, including roll-on oils, tinctures, and pet care products. Our teams have worked with this company to ensure that all steps in the production process meet our high standards.
This company is strictly in the retail space and is not an MLM, so PV or commissions will not be available on these products at this time. As always, Young Living is focused on putting purpose and people over profit. This first step into the CBD realm is simply a way to address the needs of our consumers who currently consume CBD or wish to by providing them with a third party that has agreed to provide a high-quality, Seed to Seal essential oil-infused product.
As the legislative landscape will allow, we hope to bring these same products in-house as permanent Young Living offerings with full PV.
The company we’ve selected is currently building up additional inventories to allow a launch with significant stock on hand. We are consulting with this company to assist them in bringing these Young Living essential oil-infused products to market in the coming weeks. Until then, we ask for your patience and recommend that you continue researching CBD on your own.
We’re including a summary of the Seed to Seal pillar owners’ key points from the January 8 Diamond call regarding CBD and a brief FAQ with this message. Please share this information with your teams upon request. Again, more information will be coming shortly on this exciting development. Thank you, as ever, for your leadership, partnership, and alignment with Young Living’s mission and values.
So it kind of appears to be an “announcement about an announcement” type of thing. But it definitely seems like the company is extremely excited to get a foothold in the rapidly-growing CBD industry.
CBD products (such as vape juice), have been used by many people to treat pain, anxiety, depression, seizures, and more. CBD is a component of the cannabis and hemp plants that is non-psychoactive, meaning that it doesn’t get you high. Your cognitive abilities remain exactly the same, as CBD works its magic behind the scenes.
We’ll be sure to update this article when Young Living CBD oil is officially for sale.
