young living productsEssential oils have been growing in popularity for a variety of different uses. Some vapers have discovered that they can vape essential oils and receive the same benefits. Can you vape essential oils? Absolutely. Should you? It depends on what your goals are. There are a few things that you need to consider before you start using a vaporizer with essential oils. Here’s what to expect.

Choose the right vaporizer

You need to ensure that the vape you are using is compatible with essential oils. The main thing to look for is a vape pen or other vaporizer that is designed to be used with concentrates. A vape that can handle concentrates will be more than capable of being a great essential oil vaporizer.

A lot of people prefer to use an essential oil diffuser. But since you’re on Vapor Vanity, I’m going to go ahead and assume that you’d rather use a vaporizer instead. We recommend using a portable vaporizer rather than a table-top unit so that you’ll be able to experience the benefits of inhaling essential oils on the go.

Choose the right essential oil

It’s important to note that vaping as a method of administration has a really high bio availability rate. This means that you’ll be absorbing more of the essential oils when you vape compared to other methods. The high bio availability rate is one of the coolest effects of vaping. So the first thing you’ll need to consider is the potency of your oils.

Some essential oils are extremely concentrated and potent, while others are more diluted. Make sure that you’re using the right strength for your goals. Use just a few drops when vaping essential oils for the first time. You can always add more if you aren’t feeling the effects. Start low and work your way up.

Another important consideration is quality. When vaping you’ll want to use the most high quality essential oils you can find. Cheaper brands might have impurities and weird ingredients that might not be safe for you to inhale in your lungs. It’s worth it to spend extra for the good stuff.

How to vape essential oils

When vaping essential oils you’ll want to do the opposite of what people normally do when vaping e-juice. Take small, short inhales. This is not the time to start cloud chasing. A lot of the positive benefits of essential oils comes from the scent and from how they effect your senses. Try to relax and vape slowly so you can experience those benefits. Inhaling essential oils is definitely different than using hemp oil, marijuana, or nicotine e-juice.

Temperature is another important consideration. Different essential oils react differently to temperatures. Start with the lowest temperature setting you have and slowly crank it up until you find your ideal range. Note that this may be completely different from what you’re used to when vaping e-juice or dry herbs. Essentials oils are different and a lot of them don’t do well under extremely high temperatures.

Once you’ve figured out the optimal settings for vaping your favorite essential oil you should be good to go throughout the day. Essential oils don’t need to be vaped as often as nicotine e-juice or CBD. I recommend keeping a dedicated tank for essential oils, since the scent and flavor tends to be overpowering. When switching to a different oil, make sure you clean your tank properly so that the taste and scent doesn’t linger. Flavors like peppermint tend to stick around and it can take a while to completely remove the flavor from your tank.

What are the benefits of essential oils?

A lot of the benefits of essential oils are derived from their calming flavor and scent. People enjoy flavors like tea tree, eucalyptus, and chamomile for relieving stress. There are also formulations designed to help cure insomnia, reduce headaches, and reduce anxiety. Whether you like lavender or tea tree, there is something out there for you.

You can also create custom blends of your favorite essential oils (like the ones made by Young Living) by combining a few drops of each flavor in your tank. You can create some awesome new flavors by doing so, but as always start small and work your way up. It can take a while to figure out how many drops of each flavor your prefer, so don’t waste all of your essential oils by dumping them in a tank without making sure you’ll like the flavor first. Of course, the long-term effects of vaping essential oils hasn’t been thoroughly studied yet, so make sure to do your own research on the ingredients and find out if essential oils are a good fit for you.
